Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT)
The Doctor of Physical therapy at ILMA University examines an essential segment of the modern health care system. This therapy centred program pertains to the clinical examination, evaluation, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular and respiratory systems’ functional disorders. The program deals with methods of treatment based on movement, manual therapy, physical agents, and therapeutics modalities to relieve the pain and other complications. The treatment providing program covers basic parameters of healing sciences.
Following are the objectives of the program:
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the basic and clinical sciences relevant to physical therapy
Develop the understanding, correlation and theoretical foundations of knowledge to the practice of physical therapy
Demonstrate the behaviours of the scholarly clinician by developing and utilizing the process of critical thinking and inquiry
Engage in reflective practise through sound clinical decision making, critical self-assessment and commitment to lifelong learning
Provide services based on the best available evidence which includes physical therapy examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, prevention activities, wellness initiatives and appropriate health care utilization
Prepare to influence the development of human health care regulations and policies that are consistent with the needs of the patient and of the society
